Open
to all women amateur golfers who (1) are a member in good standing
of the WAGA (individual or club), (2) are current residents in the State
of Alabama, (3) have an established USGA Handicap Index. There is no age
limitation for contestants. Entries are subject to rejection, or withdrawal,
at any time at the discretion of the WAGA.
- All entries
must be filed on the Official Entry form, either electronically or by
printing the entry and mailing to the WAGA office. Printed entry applications
may be obtained from the WAGA Executive Director. All entries must be
received by 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2008.
- An entry
fee of $150.00, payable to the WAGA, must accompany the entry application.
(Fee includes practice round, two rounds of golf with carts, club storage,
range balls, Players’ Dinner and awards).
- Applications
will not be accepted without applicant's GHIN number.
- Withdrawal:
If an applicant withdraws prior to 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2008,
the entry fee will be refunded upon request subject to a $25.00 administrative
fee. No refunds will be made for withdrawals after this date.
- The field
is limited to the 96 entries with the lowest index received by 5:00
p.m., Friday, May 16, 2008.
Qualifying
will determine placement of contestants in the Championship Flight. Qualifying
for Championship Flight is open to any contestant choosing to qualify.
Contestants with the lowest 24 indexes must qualify. Contestants will be
notified at time of acceptance if they are required to qualify. The
lowest 16 qualifying scores will constitute the Championship Flight. Other
flights and positions within flights will be determined by contestants'
Handicap Index. Ties for last position will be resolved by blind draw. There
will be as many flights as entries warrant, through six flights. All final
matches will be an 18-hole competition with the exception of the Championship
final match, which will be a 36-hole competition. There will be a medalist
trophy. Any ties for medalist shall be determined by a hole-by-hole playoff.
Ties for 16th place in Championship Flight on qualifying day shall be played
off hole-by-hole. Any player thus tied shall hold herself immediately available
for the play-off at the call of the Championship Committee or forfeit her
right to the upper flight.
It is the responsibility of all players to continue on in match
play after qualifying. Withdrawals shall be referred to the Championship
Committee.
All
competition will be played in accordance with the United States Golf Association
Rules of Golf. Only members of the WAGA Rules Committee shall be authorized
to give rulings during play of the tournament. Final decisions are left
to the Championship Committee.
Each
contestant must register in person on Monday, June 9 between 12:00 p.m. -
6:00 p.m. Failure to do so may result in rejection of a contestant's entry.

Practice round privileges are extended ONLY to out-of-town Championship contestants on Monday, June 9, 2008 after 11:00 am and ONLY to out-of-town contestants on Sunday, June 8, 2008. Area II and III contestants may schedule practice rounds on weekdays prior to the
championship. For tee times call (205) 668-7888. Identify yourself as a contestant in the WAGA Amateur Championship when making tee time.
All
contestants must use motorized Carts. It is the responsibility of contestants to pay a cart fee of $22.00 to the Pro Shop on Thursday and Friday.

- Timberline Golf Club accepts cash, credit cards and is able to charge back to your club.
- Dress Code - Ladies conservative apparel, with shorts being mid-thigh or longer. No blue jeans, halter tops, tank tops, tube tops or short shorts will be allowed on the course or in the clubhouse. Soft Spikes are mandatory.
